'The Siblings' ... Charcoal Sketch

Charcoal Sketch
After studying the selected photos, I chose one to be the main format for my composition. Now I had to assemble all the parts to fit. I particularly liked the photo of the guy looking at the Renoir of a lady with her children. There was another photo I had taken in the museum of a mother and her two daughters on the bench. They had been interacting with one another and I took several photos of them. It as at this time that I saw the correlation of the painting on the wall and the mother/children in the museum. I already had a title for my painting.... 'The Sisters'.... However after researching the Renoir painting I discovered that one of the two 'girls' in the painting wasn't a girl after all.
The smallest was a young boy! Back in the day, they dressed their little boys in dresses and let their hair grow long until they reached a certain age when they put them in breeches. So, my title concept changed to 'The Siblings'.
In creating the charcoal sketch, I bordered my sketch proportionally to the canvas size for the painting.... Then in placing the figures, I had to concentrate on the size, considering the size difference of adults and children, their placement in foreground and background and everything in between. Trial and error gave me approximate sizes that would have to suffice.
